Malya Villard-Appolon, a Haitian women’s rights activist and leader of the grassroots women’s group KOFAVIV, will testify Monday before the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva. Villard-Appolon has lived in a camp for the internally displaced since the January 12 earthquake.  She will describe the skyrocketing incidence of rape that she has witnessed in the camps, and the lack of a coordinated or effective response to these persistent threats.
