BAI and IJDH’s efforts to seek justice for victims of cholera were featured in a new Al Jazeera Faultlines documentary that premiered Wednesday, August 21 at 5:30 pm ET.
Haiti in a Time of Cholera follows journalist Sebastian Walker as he travels to Haiti to witness the death and the pain caused by the outbreak of cholera, as well as the fight for compensation for the victims of the deadly epidemic. Walker then travels to the United Nations headquarters in New York to ask questions of those responsible for bringing the disease to Haiti, where it has infected over 600,000 and killed nearly 8,000. Al Jazeera’s extensive interviews with the lawyers at BAI and IJDH, and with BAI’s cholera case clients in Haiti, are also featured. The episode was the first to air on Al Jazeera’s new network, Al Jazeera America.
