Since last Thursday after the election results were released, Haitians have been protesting what they say involved fraud. The protests have caused all school doors to be closed. During the lead-up to the protests, ex-president Jean Bertrand Aristide made clear his support for Dr. Maryse Narcisse, who was beaten by Jude Celestin in the preliminary results. Haiti’s Elections Remain Fraught With Problems
Haitians are out en masse protesting their nation’s election results, contending fraud. Thousands gathered on the streets of Port Au Prince for a general strike on Monday. A first round of Presidential elections was held on October 25th, with current President Michel Martelly’s favored candidate Jovenel Moise coming ahead with enough votes to make it to a run-off.
