Several Candidates in Consideration for Haiti’s Next Prime Minister

As part of an accord aimed at ending Haiti’s current political crisis, Jocelerme Privert was selected as Haiti’s interim president. Now, he is charged with leading the electoral process for 120 days, starting with selecting a new Prime Minister. So far, there are 6 candidates. The final selection will be made in consultation with Parliament.

The Head of State, Jocelerme Privert, this Friday at the National Palace, gave a press conference to take stock of his first five days at the head of the country.

“I take all the provisions in my power to comply with the terms of the agreement and the period of 120 days provided. I reaffirm my willingness to drive safe and sound the electoral process,” announced the President adding that a ” reduction of the government is considered to reduce the spending of public finances,” adding “I asked the Prime minister to suspend all appointments and all installations in public administration.”
