My Dear Friends:
This week I will return to the hospital for my 5th week-long session of chemotherapy. There have been some problems and some suffering but with the help of God, your prayers, and good doctors, I am again doing well now. After each week of chemotherapy, I must stay in isolation to avoid infections. Then I wait several weeks for my white blood count to rise enough so my body can endure another treatment.
After this one, I will only have one more treatment before I can return to my beloved Haiti.
St. Claires is getting ready for the parish feast day. The summer camp and food program has been serving more people than ever before - sometimes 1000 a day! Someone on Haitian radio told people that our parish was serving hungry children so many more hungry children come from all over for a meal. Please keep supporting Margaret Trost and the What If foundation who are keeping these programs alive and well with the people of St. Claires.
President Preval is working for the people of Haiti and I am overjoyed that Yvon Neptune has finally been released from prison. Thank you to all who worked so hard for his release.
A new day is awakening in Haiti. Human rights and justice and democracy now again have a chance to grow.
I hope the $750 million from the international community is released soon so Haiti can begin re-building under President Preval.
My email is njeranjeri@yahoo.com. I may not answer you right away because in the hospital the doctors keep taking away the phone and computer telling me they want me to rest. But God gives me strength. The people of Haiti give me strength. And your thoughts and prayers give us all strength.
God's blessings on Haiti, our people, and us all.
Pere G. Jean-Juste
