The Biden Administration has announced that it will not be extending paroles for
any of the few hundred thousand Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and
Venezuelans who it paroled into the United States for two year periods under the
so-called “Biden program.” If you are a Haitian who was paroled into the U.S.
under that program, your parole will automatically expire at the end of your two-
year parole period.
You are therefore strongly urged to immediately apply for any and all other forms
of immigration relief for which you may be eligible — for example, Temporary
Protected Status (TPS), political asylum, and/or family-based forms of relief — if
you want to remain in the United States after your two-year parole period ends.
If you are a Haitian who arrived in the United States on or before June 3, 2024,
you are probably eligible for TPS and are strongly urged, if you have not already
done so, to immediately apply for TPS!
If you arrived in the United States on or after June 4, 2024, you are not eligible
for TPS and are therefore strongly urged to consult an experienced and
competent immigration attorney as soon as possible to consider if there may be
other forms of immigration relief — for example, political asylum and/or family-
based forms of relief — for which you may be eligible.
Dr. Geralde Gabeau of the Boston-based Immigration Family Services Institute
(IFSI) prepared this short video explaining all of this in Creole. Please have a
