Over 350,000 Haitians had their Temporary Protected Status (TPS) racially and illegally stripped! On August 5, they lost work authorization and now face roundups, ankle shackles, mistreatment in ICE detention, and deportation to horrific conditions in Haiti.
Fear and job loss is exacting an unacceptable toll on our Haitian neighbors, illustrated by the tragic August 31 suicide of Pierre Damas Bel.
A bill to extend Haitian TPS for three years passed the House of Representatives in April, but is now stalled in the Senate. DHS could immediately restore TPS or provide other relief, but we need to make them do it.
TPS holders deported to Haiti face extreme violence and hardship. Armed groups control 80% of the Port-au-Prince region, and 1.5 million people (more than the population of 10 US states) are currently displaced by violence. Women and girls face vicious sexual assaults.

Attend: Attend an existing event – see current list here
Organize: If there is not an existing event near you, organize one! Express your interest here – we will provide support (events do not need to be large rallies, see below for more info)
Share: Share the National Days of Action and local events on your social media using our social media toolkit!
Endorse: Submit organizational endorsements of the Days of Action here (open to any type of organization – NGO, union, company, faith group, etc. but not open for individuals).
The Days of Action will have three demands:
Senators must co-sponsor S. 4814, which would provide a 3-year extension of Haitian TPS.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) must immediately cease all arrests and deportations of all former TPS holders, including Haitians, and reinstitute TPS for Haitians and all others who face an unfair termination.
DHS should immediately grant a 3-year TPS extension for Haitians, and all other groups whose TPS was unjustifiably terminated.
