IACHR Public Hearing on Impunity for Human Rights Violations and Lack of Judicial Independence in Haiti

Human Rights Body of the Organization of American States to Livestream Public Hearing on Human Rights Issues in Haiti
On Thursday, December 10, 2020 at 2 p.m. BAI and IJDH, along with two experienced Haitian legal practitioners, will present evidence to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR/CIDH) on the subject of impunity for human rights violations and judicial independence in Haiti. The Commission has also invited representatives of the Government of Haiti to participate in the hearing. They, too, will have the opportunity to present evidence and participate in a dialogue with the Commission and the advocates, who are expected to argue that pervasive impunity and the lack of judicial independence in Haiti, both violations of the American Convention on Human Rights, also impacts/effects rising violence and insecurity
The hearing will be public, broadcast via Zoom for those who register through IACHR. The IACHR website also provides a link to watch the hearing live, and a recording will be made available on the site at a later date. For more information and to view the full program of hearings please see the Commission calendar available here (in English).
